You Gotta Be Nuts To Home School Your Spawn!

Nobody said it would be easy.
Public School was ruining my 13yr old son.
I figured, take him out, get some text books, and we'll play school a few hours a day. Yeah, right!
Fortunately for me, I found out that Florida has a free website for it's residents. My son is taking accredited courses from teachers signed up to FLVS. They all have masters or PHd's. How lucky was that?
But getting him to sit down, read the material and do the work has been another matter.
I have pulled my hair out, threatened, sat next to him with a belt in my hand.. just to get him to do an assignment.
It's been 3 mo now, but I think we ALMOST have it under control. He has to turn in at least 3 assignments every week, with each course. It seems, he gets right down to the wire each week. I'm turning into a mad woman.
I hope it gets better. I would love to be able to walk away for a few hours, knowing that he is being responsible and doing his assignments, in the comfort of our home, eating wonderful lunches, enjoying his favorite music in the background, and no bullies to come up and yank his backpack off him.
At least I know he won't be stabbed, sitting at home, doing classwork, I know he is in a safe environment, free of bullies, bad teachers, and rowdy classrooms. Now...... if I can just convince him that he's in heaven!
